Hugo

Hugo is a rookie treasure hunter and admirer of Alidoro.

Background

Hugo's background is largely unknown. He was injured during the Puppet Frenzy and was rescued by Alidoro, who took him to Medoro to treat his wounds. He idolized Alidoro as a result and became a treasure hunter to follow in his footsteps.

Story

Hugo is met by Geppetto's puppet at the Great Swamp Bridge attempting to open a gate to cavern. He talks at length about his admiration for Alidoro and claims that some are attempting to discredit him out of jealousy. Hugo then provides Geppetto's puppet with a Wanted Poster of Alidoro and says it was made by those looking to discredit him. Geppetto's puppet confronts Alidoro about the poster, who claims that it was slander made by Medoro. If Hugo is informed of this he becomes confused as he personally saw that Alidoro and Medoro were friends. If Alidoro is killed, Hugo will find and bury his body. He replaces Alidoro as a merchant, offering Special Weapons or Amulets in exchange for rare Ergo.

Endings

• After the Real Boy ending, Hugo is killed and replaced by a Puppet version of him.
• After the Rise of P or Free From the Puppet Strings endings, Hugo takes Alidoro's costume and decides to become the Alidoro for a new generation, looking to inspire others with his heroics.
