Krat, a city of puppets and groundbreaking technology, invites those courageous enough to step into a twisted but beautiful journey.
Follow the path of our protagonist and see the city represented through the eyes of the one who has just been awakened.
Architecture in a myriad of styles and lush, vibrant ornaments reflect the city's remarkably rapid rise and exhibit how it embraced such change. Every corner of Krat hints at the innovative elements of the once-flourishing city. To name just a few: the Stargazer that moves like a beautiful flower; a mechanical heart; the intelligent guide lantern; and the puppets, which presumably form the fabric of society.
Now, leaving all the glory behind, the dangling poster of the Parade Master's jolly face in an ominous alley is just one of many things that reveal the ironic reality Krat has faced.
Hotel Krat warmly opens its doors to the weary that seek a save haven from the roads of the fallen city.
Visitors are greeted by the hotel cat, Spring, who casually roams around the place while a soothing melody flows from a gramphone exemplifying art nouveau style.
A new Legion Arm, handed to you by the engineer Eugenie, also awaits. Will it be a gift that cuts the strings of fate-or just something that further entangles your destiny?
Meet the new residents and listen to their stories. From the character design to the clothes, the accessories, and the distinctive spaces they occupy, each and every factor adds to the personalities of our beloved characters.
In spite of all else, one can always feed the exquisiteness that runs through the hotel, which no doubt is due to the influence of its owner, Antonia, who calmly holds down the fort with dignity.
Always welcoming with her benevolent smile, Sophia adds elegance to the place, but in her dress that resembles a cocoon, she also gives the impression of a butterfly waiting to soar through the air on blue wintgs.
The giant Stargazer in the center of the lobby highlights how vital the hotel is and also the cutting-edge technology that Krat possesses. But there are places where even the warm lights of the Stargazer can't reach. What are the secrets of Hotel Krat kept in the dusky corners?
Walkthrough
Train Car
After waking up, walk forward to trigger dialogue from Sophia:
Sophia
Ah, there you are!
I've been looking all over for you.
Slowly move forward and pick up the Monad's Lamp from the floor in front of the train door. Attempting to activate the door before picking up Monad's Lamp will trigger the event:
You cannot use this right now.
This will trigger dialogue from Gemini and Sophia:

Sophia
I see they got Gemini too...

Gemini, please escort him to the hotel.
After opening the door, move forward to the table at the end of the train car to select a Combat Style and weapon. This will trigger a dialogue from Sophia:

Let's get you out of there.
Find something that might help.
You can attempt Open the door with the train car door before Investigate on the table, triggering a dialogue from Sophia:
Sophia Find yourself a weapon. There's trouble lurking outside.
Investigate the table will trigger another dialogue from Sophia:

Combat Style
Path of the Bastard: Dexterity
Choosing a Combat Style will trigger a dialogue from Gemini:

Recommend escaping from this location.
Open the door to the right of the table to exit the train car.
Krat Central Station
Train Platform
Move forward towards the front of the train platform, facing a patrolling Train Puppet and an inactive Train Puppet that will awaken upon proximity.
The first item is a Sawtoothed Wheel on the right side of the train station after defeating the two Puppets.
Walk forwards into Krat Central Station. This will trigger an announcement dialogue:

Krat Central Station
After going through the double doors, the Pulse Cell will be at the foot of the statue. Investigate the plaque in front of the statue for activatable lore:

Walk up the stairs towards the left side of the room to engage a patrolling Train Puppet and an inactive Train Puppet on the right side of the room. A Dim Ergo Fragment is on the benches further up the room to the left. Move up the set of stairs to the locked door, and Open the door to trigger dialogue from Gemini:

A station employee has the train station keys.
Open the door once more to trigger an activatable lore:
You need Krat Central Station Main Entrance Key.
Head back down and turn left into the door on the right side of the station to enter a room. Once this room is entered the Guard / Perfect Guard tutorial will activate. Move forward into the next room with a Ranged Butler Puppet and an inactive Train Puppet. Walking through the door will trigger dialogue from Gemini:

You cannot see in the dark.
Switch me on and Gemini will light the way.
Head towards the doorway with bloodstains leading into it. Go into the room filled with luggage, corpse, and a Krat Central Station sign. Enter the bathroom on the left side where an ambush Train Puppet will immediately launch an ambush. There will be a Thermite on the floor. Head back and move up the stairs, follow the path straight to unlock the Rear Fatal Attack tutorial. There will be a Butler Puppet at the end of hallway. Turn right then go straight, there will be a patrolling Train Puppet that will move halfway down the hall. Move all the way down the hall to a storefront, the Passenger’s Note will be in front of the counter. Head out and make a left to unlock the Dash / Jump tutorials. There will be a Butler Puppet near the end of hallway and another ambush Butler Puppet around the corner that will automatically launch an ambush. A Train Puppet will also begin moving up the stairs to the right when the ambush Butler Puppet launches the ambush. Afterward move straight to the room filled with luggage carts to find another Dim Ergo Fragment. Turn around and head left down the stairs. This will activate the lock device tutorial. Pick up the Fable Catalyst in front of the door and activate the Lock Device to open the door to create a shortcut.
Mini-Boss
Move to the corner of the room to the non-respawning Police Puppet; the Staggerable tutorial will unlock mid-fight. When defeated, the items Krat Central Station Main Entrance Key and Workshop Union Lightweight Frame are added to your inventory.
Pick up the Sawtoothed Wheel in the right corner by the ticket counters. Go through the door that previously had the Lock Device, and move up the stairs to the right back towards the locked double doors. Open the door, triggering an event:
You used Krat Central Station Main Entrance Key.
Krat Central Station Plaza
Move straight through the door to the Krat Central Station Plaza Stargazer, which will activate the Stargazer tutorial. This will trigger dialogue from Sophia and Gemini:
Sophia
This is called a Stargazer,
a marvelous device the Stalkers used in the past.
Gemini
Warning! Puppet threshold exceeds danger estimates.
Please reduce puppet numbers or reset danger parameters.
Sophia
As we are, we are not strong enough to beat the puppets.
But if I lend my power to this Stargazer for a moment...
Gather Ergo, clever one.
This Stargazer will make you stronger.
But the Stargazer's strength doesn't last forever, so be careful with it.
Hurry up and come to Hotel Krat.
The Stargazer mechanics in Chapter 1 allows leveling from Stargazers up to level 20. Move up to the statue pedestal to find an activatable lore plaque:

From the Stargazer, head up the street on the left side and go past the first lamp post. There will be an inactive Butler Puppet and a sentry Watchdog Puppet. Another sentry Watchdog Puppet and Fable Catalyst are in front of a broken stagecoach. Another sentry Watchdog Puppet will launch an ambush when moving past the Stagecoach. Move straight past the stagecoach to the Butler Puppet in front of a boarded up door, Krat Times Issue 183 will be in front of the door. Go up the street on the right side to find an inactive Butler Puppet by a fire hydrant. Keep moving clockwise around the statue to find a turned around sentry Butler Puppet. Slightly past it will be an inactive Butler Puppet and an ambush Watchdog Puppet, initially standing on top of a large stagecoach. Move to the large stagecoach to find a Dim Ergo Fragment. Head straight from the stagecoach to the flight of stairs going up, there will be an inactive Butler Puppet and a patrolling Butler Puppet on the path. By the stairs there will be a Vivid Ergo Fragment. Move straight up the stairs with Four Seasons Books and Coffee House signs above them to engage one sentry Butler Puppet, one inactive Butler Puppet on the left side, and one inactive Butler Puppet on the right side in front of a chained up gate. Pick up the Sawtoothed Wheel in front of the gate. Head back down the stairs and move down the street to a set of stairs heading downwards. Move down the path on the right side of the stairs, and engage an inactive Butler Puppet and a sentry Ranged Butler Puppet. Drop below the ledge, and engage a patrolling Butler Puppet and another Butler Puppet banging on a door. Pick up a Dim Ergo Fragment on the left side of the archway. Head through the archway to encounter an ambush Watchdog Puppet and follow the path to the cliff.
Cliff Side
On the doorway will be an activatable lore telephone booth with a radio broadcast. Passing by the telephone booth will trigger different dialogues: Fragment 1

Activating the activatable lore by the left side of the telephone booth will reveal:

There is no cause for alarm. Do not panic, whatever you may hear.
The city is safe to traverse. We repeat: do not be alarmed, citizens of Krat.
We are effectively handling the situation
with the cooperation of the Workshop and the Alchemists.
The puppets are, naturally, imprinted with the Grand Covenant
that prioritizes human safety above all.
Please remain patient while the proper authorities resolve the situation.
Your active cooperation is requested and required.
You will refrain from any unauthorized departures, assemblies, or active protests.
Never forget your safety is of the utmost importance to your city.
The time for fear is over.

The noise is too loud. You can't hear anything.
Head left to a set of stairs going up to pick up a Vivid Ergo Fragment. Turn around and continue along the cliffside until the Fury Attack tutorial activates. An Elite Train Puppet will engage when moving passed the burning building. Go all the way to the end of the cliff to activate a Gemini lore tidbit.

Optimal location for observing the destination.
From the cliff side, head back and turn left through the side alley.
Cerasani Alley
Turn into the alley and move forward toward a set of stairs, an inactive Butler Puppet will be on the left side in front of the stairs next to a Thermite and a Ranged Butler Puppet on the right above the set of stairs; a Butler Puppet (Headless) will descend from a set of stairs to the right of the Ranged Butler Puppet simultaneously. Go up the stairs and turn right to find another set of stairs. Move up it and follow the path to find a Dim Ergo Fragment on a balcony. Drop down from the balcony to engage an inactive Train Puppet and a sentry Watchdog Puppet. Another inactive Train Puppet will move in from the archway on the right behind the Watchdog Puppet. Move through the archway on the right and follow the path to pick up a Venigni’s Urgent Repair Tool in front of a locked gate. Head back then turn right through another archway and set of stairs to another plaza. When hitting the manhole cover, a Train Puppet will come up from the left staircase and a Butler Puppet (Headless) will come down from the right staircase simultaneously. Another Butler Puppet (Headless) will descend from the right staircase. Head down the stairs to the left to find a sentry Watchdog Puppet and a Fable Catalyst. Head back up and go up the stairs on the right and activate the Lock Device to unlock a shortcut. From the gate, move towards the circus sign. This will trigger a dialogue from Sophia:

A powerful parade puppet is blocking the entrance.
And that's the only way in!
So please be careful.
Head straight to find the Cerasani Alley Stargazer.
Circus Concourse
By the Cerasani Alley Stargazer, there will be the Cerasani Alley Wandering Merchant and a Training Puppet. Pick up a Vivid Ergo Fragment in front of the Training Puppet. Speak to the Cerasani Alley Wandering Merchant to purchase the missable starting weapons as well as three each of Fable Catalysts, Throwing Cells, and Electric Blitz Abrasives.

Move past the Merchant to a set of luggage on the cliffside to find the Introducing the Parade Puppet! pamphlet. Head back to the Stargazer and go up the stairs to find the level boss. You should backtrack on the level to farm Ergo and Level Up if you are struggling with the boss, as the Stargazer allows up to Level 20 requiring 8,887 Ergo in total from Level 10.

Hotel Krat Concourse
From the Parade Puppet’s arena head left to a broken stagecoach that has a Fable Catalyst. Move forward to the wall of rubble and pick up a Dim Ergo Fragment. Turn around and head straight up the stairs passing the activatable lore Hotel Krat plaque and an unnamed NPC Depleted Butler Puppet. Talking to the Depleted Butler Puppet will trigger the dialogue:

The Broken Butler Puppet will attempt to move forward and collapse, no longer being activatable. Activating the activatable lore plaque reveals:

Follow the path upstairs and across an elevated walkway to the entrance of Hotel Krat. As you approach the front, a trigger for dialogue from Sophia will occur:

One more thing I should mention... The hotel security excludes puppets like you. So you'll have to lie to get inside.

The path on the left side of the Hotel Krat entrance will lead to a Dim Ergo Fragment. The path on the right side of the Hotel Krat entrance will lead to a fountain, just past it will be a missable Hidden Moonstone. Walk up to the Hotel Krat front door and Activate, leading to the first Truth or Lie dialogue:

You must choose the "Human" option to progress, marking the only mandatory Lie in the game. Open the door to enter Hotel Krat.

Stargazer
The Stargazer is situated in the middle of the Lobby, underneath the suspended armillary clock. You can use this to Teleport to another Stargazer or to Use Storage.
Sophia
Sophia is standing next to the Stargazer, on the right side of the pedestal. She will offer Level Up services and can be talked with for lore information.
Polendina
Polendina is the Butler Puppet found at the reception desk towards the left side of the lobby. He offers vendor services and lore dialogue, with Patch 1.3.0.0 adding 2 Quartz purchasable at this stage.

Gramophone
The Gramophone is found in the Lobby between the doorway to the Salon and the reception desk and is used to play Records found throughout the game. No records are available at this time.
Salon
The Salon is a large room accessed to the west, the left of the Lobby. Upon entering, descend down a short set of stairs on the left side of the room to a depressed subsection, and pick up Venigni's Krat Landmark Guide I on a clothed table surrounded by three white chairs.
Antonia
Go up the short flight of stairs and Talk to Antonia, found in a wheelchair facing the large portrait on the wall.

The Workshop Union Storefront, Venigni Company Storefront, and Garden are accessed by an hall to the east, on the right side of the lobby.

You can trigger the next dialogue with Eugénie by walking forward from the Stargazer, following the red carpet up the stairs and through a vestibule with a large entryway:

Otherwise, you can walk to the hall right of the Lobby, with the Workshop Union Storefront on the north end and talk to Eugénie at the desk. She will provide Upgrade Weapon and Alter Handle services as well as lore dialogue, although no Crank is available thus far to initiate the Alter Handle service.

You will receive and automatically equip a new legion arm, Puppet String. Behind the desk is a countertop with activatable lore:

Head through the northern vestibule, through the Courtyard, and Open the door to the metal gate to enter Chapter 2. Otherwise, continue exploring Hotel Krat.
Venigni Company Storefront
On the south end of the hall, across from the Workshop Union Storefront is the Venigni Company Storefront full of covered crates and equipment. Facing the doorway to the Garden, you can Investigate the Venigni Craft Machine to Switch Legion Arm:

From the Lobby, go down the hall to the right through another doorway past the storefronts to enter the Garden. There is a Training Puppet on the north side and a Training Puppet (Armless) on the south side. Go to the eastern end of the Garden to find an activatable lore on a plaque at the pedestal of a statue of two women:

You can reach this are by taking the northern staircase inside the Lobby and heading up either left or right instead of through the vestibule. On the right side of the Gallery, you can find a door to the east. Attempting to Open the door:

A set of double doors to the south can be interacted with, Knock on the door:

Spring
Spring is a cat that can be found in various locations around the Hotel. You can Investigate to interact with the cat, with its animation changing depending on the humanity level of Geppetto's puppet.
